Willing to contribute - Are you looking for another maintainer?
Matt Rubin, your authenticator app is very useful to many people. In particular, I'm very glad that it supports older iOS versions, an essential feature for myself.
It seems that you have little time to maintain this application, which is completely understandable. Have you thought about looking for another maintainer or co-contributor?
Authenticator is a critical application for myself, so I am willing to contribute to the project. I'm a Java developer, so if absolutely necessary, I'd be able to learn Swift in order to contribute PRs with bug-fixes. At the very least, I'd be happy to triage the flood of issues and common questions. Maybe Github Discussions would also do well to that end.
This would be an idea since there are great responsibilities here the codes by now I think there are many stored on many devices of very important sites including banks in my case it is time to find solutions and take care of the case...... Rubin if you can't take care of it, leave the job to another person willing to take care of it here there are many hopeful hearts not to make them break because we still believe in this project
I have helped develop a few features in the past. I'll reach out to him. I still use the app daily so would also like to make sure it can be updated.
Hello, all! Thank you for your offers of help. As you've noticed, I haven't had as much time to dedicate to this project in recent years, but I also still use Authenticator every day, and have no intention of letting it die.
I'll give some thought to what sorts of contributions would be most helpful, and I'm very open to suggestions. The app has been quite stable, so bug fixes aren't a major concern, but I have been wanting to add a few new features, and responding to issues and questions is something I've neglected.
I'm going to start by reviewing open PRs and ensuring the app and its underlying library both still build as intended with the latest versions of Swift and Xcode.
Hi Matt, thank you for your wonderful message. I have been using your app for over 2 years, after unsuccessful tests of other comparable 2FA authentication apps. Since the future was unclear to me, I want to switch to another 2FA Authentication App in the coming days. Now I am looking forward to further development. My biggest wish would be a standalone backup solution (without iTunes backup) if you want to use a new iPhone with new installation.
Well this is very good indeed it is great the most important thing now really is a backup solution of the keys already saved within the application because the backup system studied is very insecure and dangerous especially for a 2FA app it would take just that basic and then improve going forward do not let this project die we believe in this one above all I am not changing my iphone for fear of losing all the keys also linked to my bank accounts this is the main thing to take care of
Thanks for all the work behind Authenticator I love the app, I hope the project will continue prosper ;)
