If we switched the markdown parser to Kramdown there is Github flavored markdown, which we could use that has these extensions: https://github.com/kramdown/parser-gfm

Pretty sure they both follow the markdown spec

Retrying with graalvm, I can't install head (but that's a ruby-build issue https://github.com/rbenv/ruby-build/issues/2092), and using the JVM flag update: I cant get specs to run with ruby truffleruby+graalvm-22.3.0, seeing this...

@eregon yeah in my brach I removed all the GC calls. I'll try again with truffleruby-head/truffleruby+graalvm-head
