Rendering of MTB routes

Open huskytreiber opened this issue 10 years ago • 4 comments

It seems that currently only cycling routes with network=lcn/rcn/ncn/icn are rendered. According to [1] the network should not be defined for mountain bike routes.

It will be nice if MTB routes are rendered as well, preferably with a different color than the regular cycling network.

Thanks for this report. I know about this issue, but I haven't found a solution to show MTB routes together with ways with mtb:scale property yet. However, it should be definitely visible somehow. At least in some additional overlay.

Was going to raise this as well but see someone has already. I note that now the opencyclemap layer now renders route=mtb relations as thin orange lines. This means that tagging for route=mtb is likely to increase in usage a lot, as I think mapping activity is often driven by seeing results in the renders available on the main page. I'd like to see the route=bicycle less prominent than currently and route=mtb quite prominently. Perhaps as thick pink lines for route=mtb and thin pink lines for route=bicycle? Thanks, David

I'm not sure it fits into the map together with mtb:scale tagged ways. But I'd like to allow the user to simply show an overlay with route=mtb tracks.

This is in my opinion really important. Routes are "the way to go" if you ask me. They are higher level than ways, easier to edit (no need to duplicate tagas for X amount of ways), they show up here: (in realtime even!) (https://mtb.waymarkedtrails.org/#?map=14!59.5643!16.6671

Also the regular cycling-related overlays on osm.org works with routes, so a huge userbase will be using that feature when mapping.
