So I rewrote the unit file for mattermost to include LimitNOFILE= and also added a 99-mattermost.conf file to /etc/security/limits.d/ and this has resolved the file limit issue

I was curious about the reboot too, not as a long-term solution, but as a means to keep their system running while we figure it out.  I'm asking PNC if they have telemetry on this so we can understand if it was a short term spike, or progressively worsening issue.
