Clicking on a desktop notification in Windows 10 focuses the application, but the application does not update

I confirm (by marking "x" in the [ ] below: [x]):

Summary Clicking on a desktop notification in Windows 10 focuses the Mattermost application, but the application does not update.

This does not happen every time, but it seems to be a fairly frequent occurrence.

This is the same as MM-38800 (I would have commented on that issue, but it seems to be locked).

Environment

  • Operating System: Windows 10 (10.0.19044 N/A Build 19044)
  • Mattermost Desktop App version: 5.1.0
  • Mattermost Server version: 6.7.0

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open the Mattermost desktop application.
  2. Switch the focus to another application.
  3. Receive a new message. A Windows toast notification will be shown.
  4. Click on the notification.

Expected behavior

Mattermost is focused and shows the new message.

Observed behavior

Mattermost is focused but does not update the screen to show the new message.

Switch the focus away from Mattermost and then back to Mattermost and the application updates to show the new message.

Possible fixes

None.

I've re-opened https://mattermost.atlassian.net/browse/MM-38800.

I experienced this one a fair bit in the past, but I haven't seen it in a while.

@reduckted Are you using the latest version of Windows 10? Not sure what build number they're up to yet. My issue went away after a while so I assume it's likely fixed with a later version of Windows 10.

Windows 10.0.19044 is the latest version as far as I'm aware.

I tried to come up with some specific steps to reproduce the problem before I created this issue, but I couldn't come up with anything reliable. I'll try to reproduce it again this week. Are there any log files or anything similar that I should try to capture or save?

@reduckted We can definitely grab the log files from %APPDATA%\Roaming\Mattermost\logs, though from what I remember experiencing this bug there wasn't much in there. It's likely this that this is a weird renderer issue with Electron, though for me it went away after a while (not sure exactly when)

I haven't seen this one pop up in quite a while, is it still an issue for anyone?

Closing as inactive, feel free to re-open if this is still an issue.
