Not being able to compile PDFs after finishing a tutorial

Excelent package, Matt! My students loved it.

However, I'm not being able to compile the PDF file at the end of a tutorial. I have tinytex and pandoc newest versions properly installed, all my packages are updated and tlmgr is also updated. I do not have any problems compiling PDFs when using rmarkdown.

I looked it up on forums and help files, but couldn't find any solution for this particular issue. My students are experiencing the same -- so I came to suspect it could be related to a deprecated function or something like that...
