i have this problem:

i use the italian keyboard layout the us-keyboard char ">" correspond to the italian keyboard char ":"

when i install this atom plugin the keyboard invert the chars: when i press ":" it writes ">"

i'm using the italian keyboard too and i don't have this problem, you have to set legacy/international mode in settings/autoclose-html and it works like a charm:)

Same issue with Spanish keyboard layout. On "shift-." press, shows ">", not ":" Version: 0.23.0 Atom: 1.7.2

Same issue with Swedish, and it took me a long time to find that it was this addon causing it.

Enabling Legacy/International Mode in package settings seems to solve this problem. #128

Same issue in Estonian. It overwrites tilde key.
