UX: add a new trigger

Open Chardonneaur opened this issue 1 year ago • 3 comments

Hi Team, When we want to add a new trigger when creating a tag, the first thing we do is that we click on the dropdown menu (where only existing triggers appear), it would be nice to have at the end of this dropdown menu, the link to create a new trigger.

Hi @Chardonneaur . Thank you for the suggestion. Just to make sure that I understand the enhancement idea, you're talking about this dropdown? image

It sounds like you want it to behave a bit more like the choose variable component, which has the option to create a variable if the desired variable doesn't already exist in the list? image image

Hi @snake14 Yes, a bit like this, here is Google Tag Manager, when you want to associate a trigger to a tag, it is showing you the list of existing triggers and at the top right and corner you have a button to add a new trigger. So to say, one place when you can do both (use an existing trigger AND add a new one) Screenshot from 2023-10-02 09-08-14

Notwithstanding that it could be an option inside the dropdown, aren't the links inside the inline helptext providing you the link in a pretty nearby place? I see it even allows you to create a new trigger in a modal, without leaving the New Tag page, which seems quite handy.

Let me know if I'm missing something Screen Shot 2023-10-05 at 4 45 02 PM
