Improve error messaging in regards to Debug not loading

Customer was unable to use the debug/preview option on his site, this would only work when in incognito mode. The customer eventually found the cause of the issue, which was related to an error within a javascript variable he had created.

Customer has responded with a request: "One request we have would be to improve error messaging to help identify these issues quicker."

If possible is there any further logging we can provide if the debugger/preview is not loading/conflicting with something.

@goochj03 I have added this issue for prioritisation, so that product team can check and schedule this accordingly

Q: Could you please clarify:

  • steps to reproduce
  • What users would be affected?
  • how much effort would it be to solve?
  • if it's a quick fix, let's go ahead and open PR
