Archive error when wprocket 3.12 and newer is enabled

refs #233 refs https://github.com/matomo-org/matomo/issues/16905
WP-Rocket is one of the most used WordPress plugins used on millions of sites. It means our plugin will no longer work when they are both installed at the same time.
Temporary workaround is to fix the wp-rocket version https://github.com/matomo-org/matomo-for-wordpress/wiki/Downgrade-wp-rocket-to-a-version-compatible-with-the-Matomo-plugin
I also ran into this issue since 2 days ago. If I remember correct I've updated Matomo, Rank Math and the WebP Converter Plugin. Something must have caused the issue.
I tried to follow this guide and manually created the archive. The error message is, that matomo could not connect to the database.
Is my issue related to this one?
Edit: It is another issue: https://github.com/matomo-org/matomo-for-wordpress/issues/647
@NicoHood
Yes. I confirm. this is another issue
Any update on this? I'm still on a deprecated version of WP-Rocket. Like @tsteur is mentioning WP-Rocket is one of the most used WordPress plugins used on millions of sites, so I would recommend prioritising this.
Everything is back to normal with the latest versions of the Matomo and WP-Rocket plugins
Hello @jblecuit @ultrazeus
We have published recently a new plugin version with a new Matomo release. But this release does not embed yet the fix for this problem. The problem still exist.
As I metionned it before, this fix will be included in the next major Matomo release. For now, Matomo 5 is scheduled in 3 months.
Kind regards
Mat
Today in feature feedback a Matomo user reported the following:
"Still the annoying Error on reporting due to WP-Rocket bug."
A customer this morning has also brought up the incompatibility issue with WP-Rocket. "I have a problem with matomo and my plugin wp-rocket isn't compatible!"
Hello @atom-box, If this user defines the constant explained in this wiki page, he will never have again this problem when we upgrade our plugin: https://github.com/matomo-org/matomo-for-wordpress/wiki/Downgrade-wp-rocket-to-a-version-compatible-with-the-Matomo-plugin Indeed, we'll have to notify all of them when the fix will be released to let them remove this constant.
@goochj03 everything is explained here: https://github.com/matomo-org/matomo-for-wordpress/wiki/Downgrade-wp-rocket-to-a-version-compatible-with-the-Matomo-plugin. He should also have this link in his system report.
Can you both of you add in comment the link where these users complained about?
Hello @mattmary is the conflict problem fixed now? Matomo 4.14.2 WP Rocket 3.12.3.3

A user today reported this:
Hello, Do you know when self-hosted Matomo Analytics will be compatible with WP Rocket? Indeed, it's becoming very problematic for many sites to use an older version of WP Rocket.

Hello, This problem with self-hosted Matomo and WP Rocket is really annoying. It's been more than 1,5 year that we are waiting for a fix...
Hi @ramig1thub, I'm working on a fix right now. There were some politics that made it hard to accomplish a year ago but we've found a way around that problem.
For anyone following this, it seems like WP-Rocket may have fixed this on their end in https://github.com/wp-media/wp-rocket/pull/6046. I haven't tested whether there are any other incompatibilities, but it may be possible to use the latest version with Matomo for WordPress.
We are still working on applying the same type of fix on our end to solve all our plugin incompatibility issues.
Matomo for WordPress 5 now has better compatibility with other WordPress plugins.
