Modernize WordPress visualizations: add simple “Overview” dashboard (Day/Week/Month + period comparison + Top Pages)

For WordPress Multisite installations using Matomo Connect, provide a modern, simplified analytics Overview screen inside WordPress—similar to Matomo’s “All Websites” page. The view should let a site admin quickly see traffic for Day / Week / Month, compare to the previous period, and view Top Pages—without adding new features, just updating the visualizations and interface.

@emernual this does not look like a core issue, so moving it to Matomo for Wordpress repo.

I'm a WordPress Multisite admin at an institution of Higher Education. There are several WordPress Plugins that offer analytics, and I've recently been reviewing Jetpack, Koko Analytics, and Matomo. Our ideal solution would be open source, easily activated network wide, and have the analytics on a seperate server. Meaning Matomo. However, my end users have a preference for the interfaces for Jetpack and Koko Analytics.

They have some desirable features:

  • In each of these competing views, there is the ability for users to change between Month, Week, and Day.
  • When the Month, Week and Day is changed, the visualization, pages block, and referrer block all change to match that timeframe.

Having a comparable analytics overview page would be a wonderful improvement to the Matomo Connect plugin.
