Updating for beginers
Thanks for your page and help. You may want to add area how to update a new enc for those of us that don't speak Chinese.
The link to update the linkpi encoders is encoder
You can't just update to the newest one. You need to be on 20221116 (you can update to this one directly), then you can use the web interface to incrementally update, or download each incrementally update and update. Make sure to reboot after each update.
I don't speak Chinese myself, I'm relying on Google Translate and common sense :) As for the "one step" update - sometimes it just breaks. That was my case when I went up from 20230322 to 20230426 (one step) - after a reboot the encoder was stuck in a bootloop with logo on the OLED display and no network access. Full update from a USB drive brought it back from the dead.
Thanks for the information @Snake98bm. @matiaspl, I have exactly the same issue while updating the firmware. I also tried to put the 20221116 firmware on a usb drive and booting while pressing the reset button, but with no success. It shows "Updating..." very briefly and back to the logo. How did you do the full update ? Are you using a special name for the file, or a folder... ?
@Raasterr the full flash packages differ from the upgrade packages. Upgrades are basically .tar files that - generally speaking - include the files that changed since the last firmware version, and full flash are partition images. You need to grab the one for your device from the following link: https://gitee.com/LinkPi/Encoder/wikis/%E5%8D%87%E7%BA%A7&%E5%88%B7%E6%9C%BA/%E5%88%B7%E6%9C%BA%E5%8C%85 and follow the instructions below:
- Prepare a USB pendrive, format it as FAT32, single partition (with no hidden partitions)
- Unzip all the flashing packages of the corresponding model to the root directory of the USB disk
- When the encoder is powered off, insert the USB disk into the USB port of the encoder
- Press and hold the 'DEF' button of the encoder (with a toothpick) and turn on the encoder power
- Release the DEF button after you see 'UPDATING' on the OLED screen or 'System Updating' on the HDMI screen
- Wait for the firmware flashing to complete (the logo appears on the OLED screen or the logo appears on the HDMI screen)
- After the system is flashed, the default IP will be restored, 192.168.1.217, which corresponds to the flashing package of multiple models. You need to manually visit http://IP/fac.php - after logging in select and confirm appropriate model. Restart after you're done.
@matiaspl Yes, that totally makes sense, thank you so much ! Mine is now also back from the dead !
Hi @matiaspl is there a new link for a full flash as the link provided is not working?
This one works for me: https://gitee.com/LinkPi/Encoder/wikis/%E5%8D%87%E7%BA%A7&%E5%88%B7%E6%9C%BA/%E5%88%B7%E6%9C%BA%E5%8C%85
I rely upon Google Translate for navigation through the Gitee wiki.
