Is there a way to use this with ionic application?

When using this in ionic

Cannot read property 'prototype' of undefined

Error occurs

It seems like this plugin is no longer supported and I suggest you to try this post: https://ctrlq.org/code/19909-google-translate-api Just a simple API call, no sign-up for GG Translate API key required cause it uses the GG web translate instead.
