Creating a theme detaches the link between styles and variables.

When I create a theme it detaches the variable and styles so that they are no longer linked to each other. and that makes it so when you update one the other doesnt update and color modes dont work as a result.

Same here. This also means you can't switch between Light/Dark mode. Nothing changes.
