Many users won't have massive storage requirements and having an image upload to your webserver's disk space would be a nice thing to have rather than having to send it to Amazon S3.

agreed. I just haven't gotten around to writing this. It should be a fairly straightforward hack. Probably just put the default folder in the config.yml and then put an if statement in the image storage block. If you feel like adding it in I'll happily accept the pull request. Otherwise I will get to it but, it may be a little while. Working on some major back-end changes at the moment.
