User preference to hide/mute posts containing polls

Open ccazabon opened this issue 2 years ago • 1 comments

Pitch

For some, polls are funny or interesting. For others, they're pointless, distracting, and just clog up your timeline. The results can't be scientific because the participants are self-selected, so they're purely for social commentary or entertainment or other things.

A simple user preference to not show posts containing a poll would seriously unclog my timeline.

Motivation

There are way too many joke / useless / pointless polls - I see dozens a day sometimes, and it clogs up my timeline with stuff I have zero interest in.

Agree with all the above. It would be great to be able to filter polls out.

Suggestion: Perhaps mastodon could automatically insert a #Poll hashtag to a post when a poll is created. Then one could filter, search, or pin the #Poll hashtag.

Many (but not most) users manually add #Poll to there polling posts.
