iOS app freezes/hangs at irregular intervals

Current Behavior

The iOS app freezes/hangs at irregular intervals. Several times a week. Mostly when using the app to read since that’s what I mostly use the app for. (I saw an existing bug for freezing during post authoring - this bug isn’t that). To fix the problem I close the app and restart it. Haven’t noticed any common features to when it occurs.

By freezes/hangs, I mean that the app remains on screen with its current content but stops responding to touch input. No other app on this device or any other iOS device I’ve used behaves like that, so it’s unique to Mastodon, not a device problem.

Expected Behavior

No freezes or hangs please. Keep responding to touch input.

Steps To Reproduce

Use the iOS app for multiple hours a day and notice it hangs several times per week.

Environment

- Device: iPhone SE MHGR3B/A
- OS: iOS 16.6
- Version: 2023.11
- Build: 337

Don't know if reproducible but the latest occurrence worked like this:

I tapped a post from a thread to see the thread at that point The thread was slow to populate so I hit <Post to go back to the previous view That didn't work The spinners disappeared Touch input was broken

FYI due to this bug, I've switched from using the iOS app to using the mastodon.social website on iOS.

Same here, it hung when i tapped “back” because it was slow to load.
