Question: API limits

Hello! Thanks for developing mastodon and for creating an API. As an academic I'd love to use mastodon as a research method for research.

I have been reading the documentation (https://docs.joinmastodon.org/api/rate-limits/ ), but I haven't found information about limitations in relation to how far back in time I can retrieve toots containing a text in a public timeline. I was also wondering if it would be possible to retrieve a list of all public toots in an instance between a period of time containing a combination of words.
