  • [X] This proposal is a completely new feature. If you want to suggest an improvement or an enhancement, please use this template.

Describe the new feature

PortableApps.com is a platform for creating a Flash Drive with many tools and applications installed, completely portably . I use it where I work in IT to have several tools for solving issues and problems on PCs I manage. Having a version of UniGetUI on PortableApps.com would be awesome, as I could then easily manage what apps are installed, and update existing applications, without having to have UniGetUI installed on ALL of our PCs.

Describe how this new feature could help users

Allows people to have a portable version of UniGetUI with a standardized system, with appdata and settings all stored on the Flash drive itself. Also useful for the people already using the PortableApps.com platform, as they would be able to install UniGetUI on a portable device without much hassle. Another part of this feature is any apps in any of the Repositories that are already marked as "Portable" could be installed to the Portable Apps system directly (If possible).

Will investigate, since UniGetUI depends on the deployment of WinGet and various other components on the target system

I have seen that uniget includes its own version of winget, would that be possible on a portable platform?

It should give basic functionality, but perfect results are not guaranteed

I was just about to post this as an alternative way to make UniGetUI Portable, most apps work. The current ones that didn't are Chromium and its forks. Portable Java also still has some issues. +1

Perhaps it could be a solution if only a patch ensures that uniget is kept up to date and patched for portable use.

  1. the portableapp installer is used to download the latest version of uniget and install it for portable use.
  2. another patch is executed, which could ensure that the software is made portableapps compatible, i.e. it can be started and updated via portableapps. The second part of the patch could then modify the app so that portable applications from local custom apps are also recognized (scoop/git, ...) and in future perhaps even PortableApps.com is integrated as a package in the package manager.
