updates to the labels plugin

  • Added more configurability for the label display.
  • Allowed someone to specify what small labels should be shown
  • Set up event handlers to fire events for the respective subunit

@markmarkoh I know this is very old but I wonder if maybe I could provide some help on closing this PR because i would really like this feature to be available. Is there something else keeping this PR from being merged? (other than conflicts).
