Make stable, versioned releases available via npm public registry

• It would make the software more discoverable
• It would allow specific version download from registry
• It would automatically install the files in the appropriate dirs

The latest two are needed for a clean Docker workflow (which I can also contribute with, if interested).

I've forked this repo to make a similar project (combining some custom code to manage the indexes) but have published this exactly library as is under [email protected]. The next release will be a breaking change but I figured having access to this one via npm would help people out.
