cut and paste into word

Hi,

I love this program for editing that you have set up. I am showing this to students that I tutor who have learning differences.

I find that after we paste some text and make corrections, we are unable to copy and paste the improved version back into word (on a PC) without encountering formatting problems. Once in the word document, any formatting changes (i.e. indent a paragraph) result in weird overall formatting changes that cannot be removed.

Hi shellyb,

Thanks for your appreciation for and interest in this software! It's been a fun project. I understand your issue with formatting when moving between the website and Microsoft Word, and this is a known challenge. Microsoft Word adds invisible formatting which must be stripped out so that the software can evaluate the text. In addition, in order to highlight potential errors, the website has to add its own formatting into the text. This makes it difficult (if not impossible) to maintain formatting going both directions.

In a previous version of the site, I had a "Save to Word" button which at least strips out the added formatting by Grammark and allows you a clean document. However, It cannot re-insert the original formatting from Word. If you'd like this "Save to Word" feature back, let me know and I can add it.
