FileOpener extends from deprecated Plugin class

Hello, many thanks for this amazing Phonegap plugin! Everything works fine with Phonegap on my devices except one thing: this plugin extends from a deprecated class (plugin). How bad is this? Can I use the plugin anyway? Will it cause any problems on the following versions of Android? Is there a fix available for this certain problem?

Looks to me that CordovaPlugin is the successor to Plugin, but I don't know enough to be able to contribute a solution. I too would like to see a modification that makes this plugin a little more future-friendly.
