Fixed by adding .wf-panel .window-list * { min-height: 8px; } into panel.css Looks like min-height is set too hight somewhere in defaults by gtkmm.

It works and I do use it now. It misses some features like autohide, but in other ways seems to be more functional than wf-panel. But also much more code...
