Multiple images on one screen

I use image 'contain' using the image as background and the ken burns effect as a great way to show travel pictures.

Currently I use 2 portrait 27" monitors, the stack is the equivalent of 4 screens, and I wonder, could an option be made to have more than 1 image per screen, essentially mapping each physical screen into a variable number of 'virtual screens'

The interface would accept "number of virtual screens per physical screen" or possibly a Rows & Columns of virtual screens, or even offer a variety of 'virtual screen dimensions'

So in my case saying 2 virtual monitors: My 1080x1920 (portrait) screen would be considered 2 virtual screens each 1080 x 960

And in the case of a future 4k monitor, 3840×2160 would be 6 virtual monitors each 1280 x 1080
