Delay indexing

As far as I can tell the database of images is updated every time the screensaver starts - possibly several times a day. This uses more resources than I would like, so I wonder if it's possible to set a time period between which the database is updated - weekly, monthly, etc.

Does the program need to repeat the file scan on every run? Maybe save the results and only rescan on request?
