Random photos show same photo twice

When I have just a few photos in a folder and show them at random. Then it happens a lot that exactly the same photo is showed twice. Maybe you can remember the last shown photo to avoid this.

On my todo list is to add a setting that takes the last ## number of photos shown into account and not show them.

Perhaps a different solution would be "shuffle" mode rather than "random" mode. It might work by getting the list of photos to display, randomly sorting them, cycling through the list until the end, then start over. If interrupted, it would restart where it left off.

The issue with this is how to take newly added photos into account, how would they be added within and existing "shuffle"?

I see these options

  • add new photos on the rescan after the cycle is complete
  • monitor/detect the file count change and restart the cycle
