I can help create a (un)offical 2,6 package repository. I'm wanting to add a couple of packages, including support for NordVPN (tunnel certificates for OpenVPN clients and some sample configurations) and some things for ARM. I'll be submitting a PR

i inspected http requests toward the repo and simulated pfsense 2.6 user agent, noticing no difference in replies. I think I can update straight away, but correct me if I'm wrong
