Image variant is not part of config
.... and therefore there is no way to figure out which desktop environment needs to be auto-started (this is a follow up of #16 ).
Was able to track this down to lxd-image-server. That's a bummer, because I'm also unable to set the variant after the instance was created. So this is a blocking issue:
