Document the build process

I'd like to work on #9 - as a first approximation, the least I hope to do is make apps that don't have the necessary permissions just not use the global cache, but a local one instead. That's still better than the current situation.

But, right now, I don't even know how to build this thing. Is that documented anywhere?
