Cannot flash mapsapi.flashable.zip with CM9.1 (4.0.4) on HTC Buzz

I just tried to setup my first non-Google-device, but ran into trouble.

HTC Wildfire (aka "Buzz"), was already running CM 9.1 (Android 4.0.4). So I booted into recovery, wiped everything twice, re-flashed CM (went smooth), and then wanted to flash mapsapi.flashable.zip (version 0.5).

Finding update package...

E:Error in /sdcard/mapsapi.flashable.zip (Status 0)
Installation aborted.

Any idea what that could be? Alternative ways to get it installed (maybe simply unpacking, and copying the files manually)? Previous versions where no longer available, so I couldn't try with those.

Which recovery do you use? You can also extract the /system folder from the zip file.

@mar-v-in That's exactly what I did (and this part works fine). It's CWM on the HTC Wildfire/Buzz – you remember, the one you've already checked the framework-res.apk for concerning the NetworkLocation not working.

I'm hoping to get my next device ready to be freed from GApps soon. This time, I've got all the options from 4.0 up to 4.4, so I will start verifying for 4.0 to see if those "cannot flash" and "NetworkLocation" issues popup there as well (so they might be connected to ICS/Recovery, as that device has CWM as well) or not (connected to the device). Will definitely let you know then, but it might take a little.

Sorry for the late response here, somehow I didn't receive a mail about the update (need to check my settings ;)

Short update: Same issue with CM10 on my Milestone² (aka Droid 2): Flashing failed, manual extracting (or rather adb pushing) succeeded. Common component: CWM Recovery.
