Firefox memory consumption
This came to me via email, I didn't try and reproduce.
Wondering if anybody else has experienced / mentioned / reported that MR, in conjunction with Firefox, suddenly appears to be chewing an incredible amount of RAM? (at least for me!)
I worked on a couple of challenges last week, & everything was fine.
However, this week, as I've been working on them, they are apparently consuming more & more RAM, to the extent that, a couple of days ago, I had 2.2GB!!! of RAM being used by MR, out of only 4GB on my laptop :-(
Did some cross-checking yesterday, & while working on a Challenge, after clearing each task, my Task Manager showed that my progressive usage, with only MR & one OSM tab open, was:
O'all CPU Biggest O'all Memory Biggest 63% 63% 86% 1070 MB 66% 65% 90% 1250 MB 71% 59% 94% 1395 MB 71% 63% 96% 1572 MB
After shutting everything down, restarting & then opening multiple Firefox tabs at random, including one OSM tab, it then only showed 14% / 8% / 78% & 256 MB with 12 separate tabs open!
I did some googling, & found reference to an issue from some years ago, that Firefox wasn't releasing memory when a page was closed, so I'm wondering if that same issue may have returned?
Alternatively, an update has possibly gone through on either MR or Firefox which means they are no longer playing nicely with each other? :-)
One of the challenges I was working on was my own [redacted], & as it's my first Challenge, it's also possible that there's something wrong with the way I've set it up?
FYI, I'm running Firefox 90.0.2 + WIn 8.1.
I also show higher memory consumption on firefox vs chrome and safari.
Hi, I was trying to map on MapRoulette, but the website is terribly laggy and it's using up 5 GiB of ram.
