Different single-click behaviour for "select" vs "mark complete"

I dislike that when I single-click anywhere on the task, it marks it as done. This makes it difficult to do click-drag or rearrange in some cases, or trying to double-click to edit/rename.

Describe the solution you'd like

I would like single-clicking on the circle to the left of the task to mark it complete (preferably with that icon becoming bigger/more distinct); clicking on the text of a task would not mark it complete, but just highlight or "select" it.

Describe alternatives you've considered

Some kind of modal for fine-tweaking the timing between a click and completion, or adjusting the double-click timing.

Additional context

Clicking to "highlight" or select a task has the added benefit of bulk-changing things like colours. If I type out five tasks, I have four clicks for each of them to change all of their colours (middle click, three-dot menu, colour icon, choose colour). This is tedious. Selecting multiple tasks and being able to mass-apply a colour would make it much easier to group tasks by priority or by project (or whatever you use colours for).
