Something I've just noticed is that this bug does not occur on my Windows 11 vm but only on my host Win10 Pro vm, meaning that whatever bug was introduced...

I have found a workaround. If you restart explorer, then ModernFlyouts starts updating normally and you can open and close Spotify and it updates in real-time. I'm getting really close...

And reinstalling Windows then updating also avoids this bug. It's a really strange occurance.
