Show last location Details by default
The app's opening screen is always a list of (presumably nearby) locations. But I (like I suspect many users) am always interested in one single location, and having to pick the top item in the list is an annoying extra click.
I somehow expected that setting "Your location" would default to that location and display when running the app, but it does not.
The "details" page doesn't have any navigation buttons, relying on the Android "back" button to leave the screen. There would need to be some kind of nav on the Details page. I clicked on the obvious, upper-left-corner "tide vs current" icon, thinking this might bring me to the list. Presumably you would need a switch in Settings to activate this, as many people might just want to see the list of nearest stations and always select from that.
Some additional feedback: I think centering the Details display on the current time (and marking hours either side) is an excellent design. At first I didn't like the tiny red dot (too small to distinguish with old eyes), but when I realized it is the center-most dot, it was fine. Obviously swipe left-right is sorely needed.
This app could rival the best-ever XTide port to a mobile device -- TideTool on PalmOS, by Walt Bilofsky. You could slide around on the current display to get the tide level for any time on the graph (other apps do this too, but have other problems).
Great work! I'm a frequent user of MX Mariner as well.
