+1, install doesn't seem to do anything on 2.0.4

as this core is ~12Years old - i think for using it with the current Arduino IDE 2.* there would need a bunch of changes to the new backend / environment...

I recommend using MightyCore:

It provides excellent support for the ATmega1286P and family, is compatible with Arduino IDE 2.x, and is well maintained.

thanks for this reminder - i also was not sure which core i used back in 2017 for my project... and i also thing it was the MightyCore...
