Compile issues caused by dependencies

While mqtt Support needs a libboost > 1.65, this library is not available on debian stretch. While libboost > 1.65 needs debian buster, libmysql++-dev is not available for debian buster.

Anything I do not recognize or is my choice either mqtt only on buster or mysql only on stretch?

Indeed looks like that's the case on Debian. See e.g. https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/507709/package-libmysql-dev-is-not-found-in-debian-buster-sid which reads to me like the issue is the lack of a Debian package maintainer for libmysql++.

Either that, or switch distros, or compile libmysql++ from sources. All of those are painful, I know, but I don't see what I could do here ¯_(ツ)_/¯

There seems to be a new mysql++ package release in unstable though, maybe one can selectively install that one?
