I just launched it on 1.21.5... the mod works? unless its crashing for you?

Lo acabo de lanzar en 1.21.5... ¿el mod funciona? ¿A menos que se bloquee para ti?

The game opens, but the problem arises when it gets stuck at the end of the loading screen. It doesn't freeze or anything, it just sits there and won't open.

I will try to get a basic release out this weekend, but it will be missing many of the old optimizations. The model system has been completely rewritten, and I do not think I will have time to adapt those optimizations. After this weekend, I will not have time to look at it for ~2 weeks, so there will not be another update before that.

Sorry for asking this, but I was curious. It's been a few weeks since your message, and there's nothing new about Ferrite-core (sorry if you're busy). I've been waiting for the version with the other optimizations, since I don't have a very good computer for playing Minecraft, and with Ferrite-core, there was a huge difference in gameplay (the screen didn't freeze as often). Sorry if you're busy, I'll be patiently waiting.

I had another look at the memory data for 1.21.5:

  • There is one major memory usage issue, DFU is using 100 MB again for unknown reasons. I have spent some time trying to understand this (as has @embeddedt), but I have not even been able to work out whether the old behavior (low memory usage) was a bug, whether the new one (high memory usage) is a bug, or whether some change made the memory increase necessary.
It would be trivial to "fix" this using a LazyDFU approach (one of my tests did just that), but this is not something that I want to add to FerriteCore. I also do not plan to publish a separate mod for it, but I would expect that someone else will do so soon.
  • For vanilla, all other fixes that I removed in the update are irrellevant compared to this. I estimate that they would save 10-20 MB in total at most, especially since vanilla has fixed some of the issues I previously fixed in FC.
  • For large modpacks, the removed fixes are probably more relevant. So I will work on adding them back, but since it will probably take a while for big packs to be around, I am prioritizing some other projects for now.

So for vanilla (and light packs), future updates of FerriteCore for 1.21.5 are unlikely to save much additional memory. For large packs, the current version is not optimal, but large packs are not around yet.

is the 1.21.5 version feature complete because sometimes it sems like things are half working half the time like it will try to clear up memory and then just give up

In what way are you noticing that "[FC] will try to clear up memory and then just give up"? I am not sure what you are describing there.

Like it will clear up then just the ram used goes to Max for no reason
