Trackpad no working on MacOS 2019 - Scroll bars set to "When scrolling"

If I toggle "Show scroll bars" to "When scrolling" or "Automatically on mouse or trackpad" in my system preferences, the package loses its functionality.

If we are choosing to display a scrollbar, the package should overwrite any system preference and be the priority.

steps to reproduce the issue: system preferences -> General -> Show scroll bars and tell us what is the default option in your computer and test it with the When scrolling and Automatically based on mouse options
