hideNonActive option doesn't work

My cycle2 animation has hideNonActive = true;

Doesn't have any effect, while the animation is loading there are stray bits of image flying all over the screen, looks like hell.

How do I entirely suppress the display of the animation elements in the time between when they stop loading and the animation starts?
