Improvements for the interface of the character design
The character design has a lot of selectors that can become a lot of scrolling and repetitive images. Some suggestions to make it more user-friendly:
- Make the images hover on mouseover of the title of the selector. It will allow you to add even more detailed images if needed without cluttering up the interface. It will also help keep lists shorter.
- Add a collapse button at the end of the list. If you've been editing something with a lot of options. Most things really, but say... the eyes. And you want to go back to the previous item, it is a LOT of scrolling to go back over the entire list simply go to the previous item. A simple button should be able to close the accordion and collapse the selector and the previous one will be right there above it.
- There are many things that usually take identical values, but they have two selectors. For eg, do people set left and right sides to different values all that often? Will also be a nightmare for editing afterwards when mirror won't work as expected. A simple lock checkbox should move both sliders at once and it can be unlocked to create an asymmetrical character. Or even an overall checkbox - "Is this a symmetrical character?" If yes, I think you can safely give one slider and no one will miss the second.
+1 I've been thinking about these exact same improvements, but not got around to logging them.
Thank you, this is exactly the kind of testing and feedback which is needed to improve MPFB. I've been working for so long in the interface that I'm kind of blind to what improvements can be made.
Moving the symmetry feature request to #102
As a tip btw: if you click the "MPFB" shelf tab, you'll get autoscrolled to the top of the interface. This doesn't void the suggestions, but can be used as a workaround until better functionality can be implemented.
Moving the interface image request to #103

And I love it that you take the ideas and run with them :)
I'm good at this sort of thing, though I'm not a coder - more like a champion copy-paster/recycler of other people's code.
One more usability suggestion - there should be a way for the addon to remember the assets folder in the preferences section - right now, if you deactivate it and then activate it again, you have to enter it again. Makes sense to remove it when the plugin is removed, but otherwise, it is the sort of thing that could be set once and forgotten forever after. This may prove helpful for people working on limited systems and who disable addons as good practice when they aren't needed.
