It seems that the local() function should a description of the font one is looking for: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/@font-face#description

/* roboto-regular - latin */
@font-face {
  font-family: 'Roboto';
  font-style: normal;
  font-weight: 400;
  src: local(''), /* <----- notice the empty name/description of the font here */
       url('../fonts/roboto-v29-latin-regular.woff2') format('woff2'), /* Chrome 26+, Opera 23+, Firefox 39+ */
       url('../fonts/roboto-v29-latin-regular.woff') format('woff'); /* Chrome 6+, Firefox 3.6+, IE 9+, Safari 5.1+ */
}
