Improvements to critical footnote hyperlinks

Open rrthomas opened this issue 8 years ago • 4 comments

At the moment, critical footnote line numbers are links to the page containing the text, which is good, but there are no links from the text to the footnote (as there are for normal LaTeX footnotes). Please could this be (optionally?) added? It will typically look ugly if hidelinks is not set (a typical critical edition page will be a forest of red rectangles!), but it is useful metadata.

For classical footnote, it is easy to put a link on some thing (the footnote text). For critical footnote, I don’t see in which text you would like to get the link? In the lemma? but what about nested lemma? in the line number? but what about multiple footnote for the same line.

I was thinking of the lemma. I agree nested lemmas are then complicated, but a simple solution could ignore that case (if you have nested lemmas, don't use that sort of link for now).
