I experienced the same issue. Yesterday I downloaded the modpack and it ran without problems. Today I am unable to play.

I can start CurseForge, I can launch the modpack. This brings up Minecraft Launcher with proper modpack version selected. When I hit Play there are two possibilities that happen: After opening the launcher the game will start, shows its window and begins to initialize mods. After a couple of seconds it crashes with a crash code of 1. Sometimes it won't even create the window and crash right away with the same code.

When I tried to run the modpack for the first time today it's shown me it was updating the launcher. Maybe that's the culprit?

Same issue

Yes it was indeed because of the minecraft launcher update. Repair your installation via curseforge: https://i.imgur.com/hFLB8Qb.png Though currently minecraft auth servers are having issues so even if you get it fixed you may not be able to log in.

I tried your suggestion and repaired the modpack. It took maybe a second or two, but after that the issue still persists. It looks like I'm correctly logged into the MC launcher, as even my skin is available to me.

I started vanilla 1.19.2 straight from the launcher opened by CurseForge to see if it would run (it's just after CtE crash, the launcher was kept open in beckground). After downloading files the game opened just fine without any problems. I was able to create a new world and move around.

EDIT: I was using a wrong option. I chose Repair Profile instead of Repair Installation you pointed to. After that repair it looks like both MC and CtE installations were initialized. It reinstalled the mod pack. I had to log back into my Microsoft account in MC launcher. After all that when I hit Play (and it finished its final download) I was greeted with a working game. Thank you! You're a lifesaver!

EDIT2: After a short while of playing Minecraft became a resource hoard and started lag spiking. What I always do to fix it is restarting the game. Doing this triggered another launcher update which brought back the crashes.

Yeah unfortunately till curseforge fixes the issue you'll have to keep repairing the installation. Also dw about repairing the profile, I did that previously myself when someone showed me ;)

Alternatively, you can switch to GDLauncher, it's already resolved the issue so you can just launch without any problems. I've been enjoying GDLauncher so far. As for minecraft being a resource hog, I even feel like my minecraft ran better on GDLauncher than curse forge somehow (I also had less ram allocated since I forgot to change that and it was running fine!)

After downloading another modpack and running it for an hour or so I decided to give it a go and try playing CtE again. The problem seems to have somehow fixed itself. Now I can play it without any issues at all. No crashes.

This was a Curseforge issue which was fixed so the issue can be safely closed :)
