Using the driver in windows 24h2 keeps freezing the OS
Transfers keep randomly stopping/freezing on the windows transfer dialogue. Which then is uncancellable. Then you log off or shut down windows upon which it never completed it's action. and ends up needing a hard reset of device. Killing explorer.exe wont help. On latest github release.
its been reported a few times but seems the dev doesnt have any plans to respond or fix it.
I have experienced full on hard windows freezes when installing onto a drive formatted with BTRFS. This usually seems to occur around about the 5 GB mark. I have worked around it (barely!) by doing 4 gigs of DL. Pause the install,. Wait a min. Resume the install. Repeat. I also periodically rebooted my device to windwos
Touch wood I've been ok copying from a NTFS partition over to a BTRFS partition
For what it's worth I've been ok when installing on to the BTRFS partition on Linux and then running a game off the BTRFS drive.
Ive also noticed that my games are starting to no longer work on the BTRFS drive on windows... files getting corrupt seemingly. or a rights issue.. (i also have bazzite)
It's not a problem started with 24H2, I had it for a longer time and it's reported many times here, still I don't see any response that at least say maintainer is aware of it. Feels like we're only a bunch of people with this problem, but I believe we're not.
Although there is #753 for it and developer has responded, so let's hope the next release comes with this PR merged into.
I have this same issue and notice it happening at approximately 1.8-1.9Gb individual sized files. Going to have ChatGPT build a robocopy script that dynamically adjusts the bit rate with a throttle and report back here if it's successful.
Looks like if I limit the file size to below 1Gb, I can copy over large groups of files just fine.
The issue seems to be that this software shits the bed for any files that are larger than 1Gb.
Can anyone confirm?

Transferring files using TeraCopy decreases the chance of Windows Explorer freezing.
Apparently using btrfs formatted drive to 100% most likely freeze windows explorer. Happened to me where CS2 freezes (apparently driver crashed and freezes Windows) and wipes my Linux bootloader. I can access btrfs drive again after few minutes of waiting (but Steam wont read the drive anymore).
wipes my Linux bootloader
I'm fairly certain that this is bad hardware. The driver doesn't access any non-btrfs partitions, and your bootloader is either on your EFI system partition (FAT) or your /boot partition (probably ext2).
It seems to crash right when my NVMe drive hits the end of its DRAM cache (16gb)
It also happens without transfering any files. just when you want to shut down windows. it hangs.

I've just copied about 14,700 small files, each mere kilobytes in size. Worked just fine, no locking up. But when I copy larger files it is guarantueed to freeze any file operations on my BTRFS pool, locking up Windows more and more over time. Rebooting is impossible as the system never shuts down. I can't confirm if 1GB is the spot where things go south though.
Tried btrfs driver for windows for the first time today and ran into this when trying to copy around 600gb of mixed file sizes, it completely locks up the entire system. I had to use the hardware reset button to reboot. Could not find anything related to the lockup/issue in the windows event logs either so it will be difficult to give any useful data/logs.
This was on a btrfs raid1 volume created in Linux and without compression.
