Strange copy issue
Hi,
I am testing v1.8.2 under a Windows 11 box on an external USB hard disk. So far, my tests were pretty interesting, copy was apparently faster than using NTFS, and now, I have activated zstd:10 compression which had a performance impact (expected of course) but an interesting gain of space (as the final goal is to use those devices as cold storage for probably unnecessary data).
As I am still in process of testing, I copied 465GB of files (Windows profile folders, log files, video files, pictures, ...) and compared them to the originals. One file refused to copy, saying there is no sufficient space on the destination, I tried before compression (3GB remaining) and after activating compression (118 GB remaining - yes compression ration was not bad). I tried to copy using Windows native copy function and also using FreeCommander XE. The file I am talking about is an URL shortcut : LA PONCTUATION - Les deux-points.zip The issue occurs with the file itself. I tried to copy the ZIP file on the BTRFS disk and unzip it using IZarc and the file was put successfully and was also successfully compared to the original.
I have no clue of what is going on, if it is a bug, so I report it so you can make a try and debug on your side.
Hope this helps somehow on this project.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to reproduce this on Windows 10...
I will continue later some more investigations, I was not able to reproduce it under a W11 nor W10 VM
I have made a little more tests without being able to reproduce the issue. The main difference might be the amount of files on the disk (several hundreds of thousands).
