can't install for Python v2.7 on Raspberry Pi
Hi,
I setup a fresh RaspberryPi and want to install mailbot in a fresh Python v2.7 virtual environment. I did it before on a RaspberryPi using Python v3.4 . And it kind of worked then. But now I get these errors:
(python27) pi@RaspberryPi-01 ~$ pip install mailbot
Requirement already satisfied (use --upgrade to upgrade): mailbot in /home/pi/.virtualenvs/python27/lib/python2.7/site-packages/mailbot-0.4.dev0-py2.7.egg

It seems to have something to do with libffi but I don't know how to fix this issue.
So, no try to install this module has been successful:
apt-get install mailbot(found on the docu page)pip install -e http://github.com/magopian/mailbot/(found on the docu page)python setup.py install(after cloning locally and cd-ing into folder)
Is there any help?

It seems to have something to do with libffi but I don't know how to fix this issue.
So, no try to install this module has been successful:
apt-get install mailbot (found on the docu page)
pip install -e http://github.com/magopian/mailbot/ (found on the docu page)
python setup.py install (after cloning locally and cd-ing into folder)
Is there any help?

Thanks. Your hint solved this issue :-) .
The installation took very long, though.
Would it be possible to insert this general requirement somewhere in the dependencies so that libffi-dev would be installed automatically if missing in the local environment using the platform-specific installer, before the module mailbotattempts to install itself?
Would it be possible to insert this general requirement somewhere in the dependencies so that libffi-dev would be installed automatically
This is because mailbot depends on imapclient which depends on pyopenssl witch depends on cryptography which depends on libffi-dev and libssl-dev.
Most project depending on cryptography will document the fact that libffi-dev should be installed. (See here for instance: http://kinto.readthedocs.org/en/latest/get-started.html#using-the-python-package)
However we could have a Debian package for mailbot which will take care of that. But with how Python packages works it won't be automatic using pip install
Then using apt-get install mailbot everything will be installed automatically.
Feel free to file a PR to document the fact that this is needed for mailbot and to file an issue asking for a debian package receipe.
