Inaccurate Inventory Changes
Preconditions and environment
- Magento version: 2.4.7-p2
- Anything else that would help a developer reproduce the bug
We’ve noticed an issue with our Magento inventory updates when orders are processed on our ecommerce site and through Square POS. In some cases, the quantity increases by 1 instead of decreasing, and in others, the change is by more than 1. In other cases, the quantity does not change at all when an item is sold.
Because of this issue, we have no way of accurately tracking our inventory, and all the work we have previously devoted to ensuring the stock levels are correct has been reversed.
Steps to reproduce
- Navigate to Magento Admin Portal
- Select Catalog
- Select a product and check the quantity
- Create an order either on Magento or Square POS with that item added
- Submit the order
- Go back to the product on Magento and check the quantity
Expected result
Order is placed successfully and the inventory for the products purchased is accurately updated (decreases by the quantity of the item purchased)
Actual result
At times, the quantity increases rather than decreases. Sometimes, the quantity does not change at all when an item is sold.
