Allow to disable emojis in the rich text editor
Description:
In v2.1.3 (downloaded from f-droid), typing :3 into a rich text note automatically replaces it with the unicode cat face emoji (🐱). While cute, this makes it difficult to type times, such as 7:30. There doesn't appear to be an option to disable this.
This does not occur in the prior available version (2.1.1)
Expected behavior:
In rich text notes, typing :3 literally results in only :3 appearing. (Alternately, a cat-face emoji replacement can be suggested.)
Actual behavior:
In rich text notes, when :3 is typed in sequence, it's replaced with a unicode cat face emoji without any prompt.
Steps to reproduce:
- Install Material Notes v2.1.3 on Android
- Create a new rich text note
- Input
:3into the note body. The literal text will be automatically substituted for a unicode cat face emoji.
Environment: Device/OS: Pixel 8a, stock Android 16 Keyboard: Default android keyboard
Additional information: Only versions v2.1.1 and v2.1.3 are available for my device in fdroid, so I haven't tested v2.1.2. As a workaround, the "3" can be typed, then a ":" inserted before the 3.
You're right, it came from an update in the editor library. I'll see if it can be disabled, and make it a setting disabled by default.
