Does this work with VS 2019 Community??
Hi guys, Before I buy a Dial, I just wanted to know if this extension still works with VS 2019 (Community)?
Cheers,
Chris

I would love to hear from others who actually use this device with Visual Studio, too. I do most of my personal coding on a Surface Book 2, where accessing the function keys is a real PITA, so I've wondered if the Surface Dial would be a nice way to improve my productivity on this machine. Unfortunately, the age of this project makes me wonder if, maybe, it wasn't as helpful as originally anticipated.
Thanks for whatever feedback you can offer!
I'm not aware of anyone using the Dial on a daily basis with VS and this extension. I wrote it as a proof of concept and the community sent a bunch of pull requests, so there was definitely interest in it at the time.
Wow, I thought this one's dead. I tried this exact extension with studio dial and vs 2019. It's a good proof of concept, some stuff is really good, some isn't. I've even planned to push this one further in a few months.
I used it alot with VS 2017, I now have 2019 community but it does not seem to work. There is no icon in the statusbar and I only get the default dial menu from the OS, not the VS specific one
I do use
@petero-dk there is an issue caused by the new Welcome window. If you stay too long on it, idle happens, Visual Studio loads the extension, the extension does not find the MainWindow and crushes.
@petero-dk I probably fixed your issue
I am using it with VS 2019 Community and it is working great.
@philipwolfe, thanks for confirmation
@madskristensen, let's close it
